4 x 4 Challenge Sunday 2nd July

Toyota vs. Ford vs. Isuzu vs. Land Rover vs.

                        Where: Umzinto Quarry

The 4 Wheel Drive Club of Southern Africa will be hosting a 4×4 challenge, right here on the south coast on Sunday the 2nd July. Action starts at 9h30 and runs until around 16h00, all depending on entry numbers and how things run during the course of the day. A challenge is a series of 10 different obstacles that the 4×4 driver has to negotiate his or her 4×4 through, picking up the lowest amount of penalties along the way. Penalties or given for rolling backwards, reversing, abandoning the obstacle, touching the banners or outside assistance.

The course will cater for mostly for standard type production vehicles where it’s the driver and his vehicle up against the opposition and of course a very technical obstacle course. All vehicles will have to pass Scrutineering before commencing with the competition, and vehicles will be scrutinized according to a handicap system whereby points are deducted according to modifications such as suspension or bumper replacement bars etc.

Scrutineering starts at 08h00

Drivers briefing at 09h00

It promises to be a great day of 4x4ing with lots of action for the spectators. Coldrinks and hotdogs will be on sale.

Follow directions from the Umzinto Park Rynie off-ramp on the N2

Club Fun 4×4 Challenge – 30 October 2016

If you’re like me, and it’s been a long time since you have had your 4×4 in Low Range, (I am having withdrawal symptoms), then you MUST join the Club at the next Club Fun Day Challenge at Killarney 4×4 in the Shongweni Valley!

Being right on our doorstep, we have decided to incorporate this as the outing for the month of October, with a weekend cam
pout, beginning on the Friday, setting the track on Saturday morning, and culminating in the Fun Day on Sunday. Even if you decide not to enter the Challenge, come join us on a close-to-home, social weekend camp, with lots of relaxation, and a pool within the campsite (for those adventurous enough to brave the cold water). The ablutions are always clean, with hot and cold running water, and flush toilets. Campsites are also well maintained, and grassed.

4×4 Challenge

When: Saturday the 26th September

Where: Umzinto Quarry

Entry fee: R100 per team

I am looking for ten Toyota drivers and their 4×4 vehicles to make up the KZN team for the above challenge. We are going to be challenging a team of ten Toyota’s made up from the Halfway group in Gauteng.

The rules will be run strictly according to the clubs normal challenge rules that we will all be familiar with.

If you are willing to participate in this event please let me know so that I can put the ream together.

Before jumping to book, just have a look at your diary, the 26th is the Saturday of a long weekend.

As per usual, I will also be looking for a few volunteers to assist with the marshalling and crowd control on the day.

On the Sunday I will be taking the Gauteng team and any of you who wish to join in on a 4×4 drive at a venue still to be announced.

Contact Gerald on gerald@halfway.ws or 082 8746138.

YARIS Extreme Thrill Ride – 4 July 2015

YARIS EXTREME THRILL RIDE

For those who have not yet seen or heard of it, this will be a first in KZN and a must see. Halfway will on the 4th July, have the YARIS EXTREME track set up in the car park of the Scottburgh mall.

The YARIS EXTREME track will be driven by Toyota’s drivers around a track that includes, ramping through the Toyota truck, driving a berm at speed and then a few other spectacular jumps as well. They will also be taking passengers for a ride in this specially modified Yaris that sounds more like a formula 1. Should be a great adrenalin rush for us slower 4×4 types who partake in the slowest form of motorsport in the world, the 4×4 challenges.

In addition to the above there will be various displays of 4×4’s vehicles, 4×4 accessories, jumping castles for the kids (or for the adults who find the Yaris a little too radical for them) as well as eats etc.

There’s no entry fee to the mall.

For more info, contact Gerald O’Brien on 082 8746138
